SVN Architects + Planners
Intern ArchitectDesignTO 2024
I was involved in this project on the design, fabrication, and installation of SVN’s 2024 DesignTO exhibition, centered around deconstructing Transit Oriented Developments (TOD’s) and how these are massive projects from a infrastructural, architectural, and political level. My major contributions included designing the “block game” which engaged visitors by challenging them to plan a TOD with a simplified context area, and co-leading on-site installation and logistics.
Fabrication / Install Process
Parking Day 2024
Parking Day is an initiative by Dubbeldam Architecture + Design that challenges the city to engage in an ongoing dialog about how our cities are designed and built. Every year around the world, people temporarily repurpose on-street, boulevard or lot parking spaces into installations, activations and parks for art, play and activism.
SVN’s parking day installation prioritized sustainability and lightweight construction. Utilizing jumbo kraft packing tubes as structural elements for tables, benches, and a planter.
I assisted with pre-fabrication, on-site install, public engagement and transporting the exhibition to it’s new home at evergreen brickworks.
Pre-fabrication items included a canopy, see-saw, two tables, a wavy bench set, signboards, and accessibility ramps.
